Tell us a bit about yourself
I’m from the UK originally and came to Japan in 2001. Since 2007, I have been successfully supporting global healthcare businesses with their organizational needs and assisting industry professionals in their career development. I aim to be effective without cutting corners and I am a strong believer that half-hearted efforts produce half-hearted results.
Prior to Executive Search, I spent 11 years working in the Education sector whilst at the same time continuing independent studio practice as a Visual Artist exhibiting in both the UK and Japan.
What do you like about executive search?
Working in Executive Search gives me the opportunity to learn about businesses and the market from the inside. During my time as an executive recruiter, I have gained considerable insight into how leading global companies operate. There is a lot of satisfaction to be gained by successfully supporting businesses to find the right people they need for their organization.
What is the secret to executive search?
Listening is key. Listening and understanding exactly what a client or candidate is looking for. Part of my job is to give market and industry advice, it is important not to misinterpret information that is given to me from both clients and candidates.
What is the secret to a successful career?
Have a plan. Be aware of your career path and your timing but be flexible and be open.
